PNP OIC General Espina bursts into tears over brutal killing of SAF heroes

At the Philippine House of Representatives on Wednesday, 11 February, an emotional General Espina decried ‘overkill’ of SAF men and he is seeking clear answers from MILF.

“I seek answers for my people so that when my time comes and I have to face them, at least I can say something,” he further said.

PNP officer-in-charge Deputy Director Leonardo Espina was approached by former PNP-SAF commander Director Getulio Napeñas after Espina broke down in tears when he narrated the gruesome deaths of some of the 44 SAF troopers at the hands of MILF and BIFF rebels in Mamasapano, Maguindanao.

On 25 January, a covert operation by SAF commandos to arrest Malaysian terrorist Zulkifli bin Hir alias Marwan and Filipino bomb-maker Abdul Basit Usman resulted in an hours-long clash with members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), which has an existing ceasefire agreement with the government.
