Preparing nutritious food for persons with dementia

The Australian Filipino Community Services Inc (AFCS), in partnership with Hammond Care and Dementia Centre organised “Dining with carers and people with dementia” on 5 June 2015 at The Dove- Filipino Seniors Wellbeing Centre.

Peter Morgan-Jones, a renowned executive chef and author of “Don’t give me eggs: 188 cracking recipes for people with Alzheimer’s” demonstrated how to prepare finger food and pureed meals and drinks. Filipino executive chef Armand Javellana, Australia National Team Member and winner of the 1988 Culinary Olympics in Germany, also participated in the event.

“The program is about empowering carers to stay healthy and equipped with knowledge of nutritious foods for persons with dementia,” said Norminda Forteza, Manager of the Australian Filipino Community Services.
