Rock music is king in RocktoberFiesta2

RocktoberFiesta2 was held on Saturday, 5 October 2013 at St Luke’s Parish Hall, Lalor. It was a night of fun, music entertainment, dancing, family and friends gathering. It was adorned by costume-wearing guests.

This event was also the launching of “SoundStruck”, a live band that hosted this event. The members are Rose Ong on lead vocals, Allan Khaw on lead/rhythm guitar, Rhey Pineda on rhythm guitar and vocals, Gardie Santos on lead guitar and vocals, Bert Lapena on bass guitar and vocals, Dennis Bernardo on drums, and Gary Cajili on keyboard.

The band was formed from a core group. This core group originated from the beginnings of a Sunday church choir until further interest grew and it stepped unto popular and rock and roll music. The first RocktoberFiesta was held in October 2010. Avid friends and other musicians were invited to participate with the core group thus enhancing the band’s structure. Music was rendered in a variety of styles to accommodate different age levels. It was such a successful event that brought the idea of a sequel. Hence, RocktoberFiesta2.

The event’s other aim, apart from being a family and friends affair, is to provide an opportunity for others to display their musical talents and be recognised in the community.

The other performing artists on the night were Su Shi with Carlo and Jesse (Acoustic Trio), and Noel Noguera. The scrumptious food was organised by Joy Bernardo. Table decors were from Mary Grace Panteria and family. Donors were Your Express Service, DHN Pty Ltd, Century Properties Corporation (Philippines), Anching and Alegring’s Asia Mart. Thanks to Mila Rivera and Liza Eyles who manned the gate, Versie Tamblyn as MC and Romy Rivera who acted as security and parking marshals, and thanks also to all the people who helped and supported in one way or another behind the scenes.

So watch out for the next RocktoberFiesta! The next proposed one will be sometime in October 2014.
