West Sydney will be the talk of the town this October with the launch of the 16th annual World Supremacy Battlegrounds (WSB).

From October 3-6, some of the best Hip Hop dancers from Australasia will descend upon Blacktown City to battle for the twelve vacant international street dance titles.

Over three hundred Filipino street dancers will be travelling from various parts of the Philippines to participate in the prestigious international street dance competition in the Southern Hemisphere.

Team Philippines will go head to head against some of the best teams from Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Solomon Islands, Canada, South Africa and Sierra Leone.

Their end game – win as many golds as possible.

The Filipinos will get their first shot at the WSB International Semi-Final Showdown on Friday, October 4 at the Diamond Showroom in Blacktown Workers Club. The Top 10 will advance straight to the Championships on Sunday, October 6.

Since 2007, Team Philippines has won a total of 22 gold medals at WSB. Last year, the Philippines grabbed their biggest haul with six gold medals out of ten major divisions.

Their stage presence, creativity, innovativeness and personality are mesmerising. Judges pay attention to the details and they know expectations are raised to the max when the Filipinos hit the dance floor.

The game-changer – Filipinos not only prepare with detail, but they also cater to the crowd. They have super talented choreographers to create the moves, but their musicality will get the whole room moving and grooving.

Battlegrounds Philippines country director Patrick Romero added some insight to the Filipino psyche.

“Pinoys represent their nation with so much pride, heart and spirit, we have nothing to lose but so much to gain. A Filipino dancer will do whatever it takes to win. Every time we bring home a medal, the whole Philippine dance community celebrates together,” Romero said.

That is pretty much the attitude taken by each and every member of the Philippine national team wherever the wind takes them.

If you want to see some of the best dancers in the world, look no further when Team Philippines hits centre stage at WSB in October.
