The Pinoy Lounge TV program receives Australian TV Award

The program received this years Australian Antennas Award in the Outstanding Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Program category.

The program won from a group of five finalists which included Fusion Latina, Sri Lankan Morning Show, Hungarian TV and VNTV.

The award recognises the great effort and hard work by the crew in bringing the Filipino-Australian community/culture into the Australian mainstream and to highlight aspects of the Philippines in a positive and
entertaining way.

The Antenna Awards showcase outstanding achievement in locally produced programs which are broadcast on Community TV stations across Australia.

First beginning in 2004, The Antenna Awards recognise the best community television programming from across Australia. These awards celebrate Australia’s diversity and bring together the best new talent from a wide range of communities and cultures, interests and perspectives.

These awards are often attended by over 450 representatives from the community television sector, the film and television industry, local business and local, state and federal governments.

Community television occupies an important place in Australia’s media landscape. It is Australia’s training ground for aspiring film and television professionals and fosters new talent, niche interest programming and cultural diversity. C31 Melbourne alone is home to 46 community production groups, through which hundreds of volunteers are engaged in community television production. Over 90 new, locally produced programs are broadcast each week in over 20 languages.

The 2010 Awards was held at BMW Edge, Federation Square, Melbourne, Australia on the 27th of June.

The program is produced by Al Noveloso and is assisted by a group of small but dedicated group of volunteers. The program receives no sponsorship and is produced on a shoe-string budget. Currently, the half-hour program is broadcast on C31 Melbourne, TVS Sydney, QCTV Brisbane and C31 Adelaide over nine timeslots each week.
