TGFSSC NSW Holds Induction of Officers in Rooty Hill

The TGFSSC State Council of New South Wales formally held its Induction of Officers and Introduction of Members on 21 February 2026 at the Novotel Hotel, West HQ in Rooty Hill, NSW.

The members of TGFSSC are from various Tau Gamma Phi fraternity and Tau Gamma Sigma sorority chapters, which were both founded in the Philippines and known for their emphasis on brotherhood, sisterhood, and community service. In New South Wales, the State Council coordinates member engagement and community initiatives within the Filipino-Australian community.

The induction ceremony was officiated by Blacktown City Council Deputy Mayor Carol Israel, who served as the Inducting Officer for the newly elected State Council officers.

The officers inducted were:
Chairman – Marvin Romero
VP for Internal Affairs – Benjamin Macabante
VP for External Affairs – Eric Santillana
Secretary – Franz Simeon
Treasurer – Jazi Nuestro
Membership Officer – Japo Santos
Auditor – Richard Virginiza
Ways and Means Officer – Jason De Guzman
Public Relations Officer – Khris Albano

Outgoing Chairwoman Jazi Nuestro reflected on the Council’s journey since its establishment in 2021, sharing the challenges and perseverance that shaped the organisation. She noted that while the Council had been active for several years, the 21 February 2026 event marked its first formal public presentation, symbolising a new chapter of unity and visibility.

In his inaugural address, newly elected Chairman Marvin Romero emphasised the importance of quality over quantity, underscoring that leadership is defined not by titles but by action and character.

Also in attendance was Marcus Pangilinan, President of Narra Cooperative Ltd, who performed a song and introduced Project 500, an initiative aimed at establishing a centre for performing and visual arts for the Filipino community in Australia.

The keynote address was delivered by Khris Albano, who shared three guiding principles as both reflection and call to action: forget the past, focus on what you are doing, and make it to the next landing. He encouraged members to move forward with purpose and reaffirm their commitment to social responsibility.

The program was hosted by Rado Gatchalian, Sydney Correspondent of The Philippine Times, who served as the event’s emcee.
