The University of the Philippines Alumni in Victoria (UPAV) is hosting the second #PinoyPower career networking event on Friday 24 June at The Hub Docklands (100 Lorimer Street).
The first series, with the theme ‘cultural adaptation’ aims to provide an understanding of the stages of settlement and integration within Australian workplaces and communities, was successfully held on 25 November 2021 at the Philippine Consulate General Melbourne.
The second series focuses on career growth and aspirations. Key panel speakers, Mary Ann Ernst and Robert Ortega, will be sharing their knowledge and insights, as a professional migrant in Victoria, the challenges and opportunities they faced and how they were able to navigate their career successfully.
Mary Ann Ernst gained her BS Food Science at the University of the Philippines Los Banos and Masters Degree of Enterprise in Melbourne Business School, University of Melbourne. Since moving to Melbourne, she worked in the food and beverages industry for 21 years where she started her career in Research and Development with Mondelez and George Weston Foods. She then moved to Quality management with Asahi Beverages and currently works at Campari Group, ANZ and Global Division.
Robert “Bob” Ortega spent his formative years at the International School of Manila and at UP Diliman College of Business Administration. Bob started his career at Unilever Philippines even while at university, and then later joined Pfizer and British American Tobacco. Bob moved to Melbourne in 2013 working for USG Boral, and was soon expatriated to the Global Headquarters based in Malaysia.
You will be able to network with like-minded Filipino professionals in Melbourne. The event will be moderated by Oliver Barbosa, who currently works as scrum master at NBN Australia.
