Winter season of our lives

There will always be a winter season in our lives regardless of who you are, and no one can be spared.

Just like cold and dreary season of Winter, there are times in our lives that winter falls upon us through the loss of loved ones, loss of a friend, health issues, job loss or the end of a relationship. It will be the lowest ebb in our lives.

For some it can be manageable, they can survive the season and they can reassess, reflect and move on. Sadly others just can not cope, that which will be detrimental for their health and can at times result to family breakdown

My friend from overseas couldn’t cope or come to terms with the loss of their first born child. Depression and failing health slowly overtook her body and soul. Support from families and friends seemed futile and she saw no reason to live because of an unfortunate situation. Her husband left her and that only added to her misery. This resulted in my friend ending her own life.

In times of our troubles and heartaches, I truly believe that God should be our refuge. At times our strong faith in Him through prayers will help and guide us. Through this, we find your inner strength to overcome all the obstacles in life.

A gardener will always plan, prepare, and improve his garden in preparation for the coming Spring season. It is the time for a gardener to plant new bulbs and bare rooted roses for an exquisite display of colourful flowers in Spring and Summer seasons.  Trees, fruit trees with no leaves – an eye sore to us – will be transformed into arrays of different magnificent dazzling colours.

Akin to a gardener, Winter season in our lives will be the time for contemplation, meditation, planning, and learning the lessons from our mistakes and failures that serve an eye opener.. It can be a guiding light for a better future. After all, Spring will follow and this will be the beginning of a new life, a hope for a brighter tomorrow.

We need winter season in our lives to truly appreciate and look forward to the joy of experiencing spring and summer seasons in our lives.

Excerpts from my book Reflective Contemplations:

SEASONS OF LIFE

In every stage in life we had

In every journey and experience we had

For every hardship, sorrow and pain

There will always be and end

Jus like Winter cold and woeful

Spring will always follow

Alive and blissful

Forgetting the dark miserable Winter night

And moving to a bright new life

For a fresh beginning and a new way of life
