Zhandro Nunez Selected to Represent NBA Basketball School Australia in Abu Dhabi Tournament

NBA Basketball School Australia is thrilled to announce that Filipino-Australian Zhandro Nunez has been selected to join the NBA Basketball School Australia U17 team competing in the International NBA Basketball School Tournament held in Abu Dhabi, from 1st – 6th October. This global event will feature NBA Basketball School teams from around the world, including exciting matchups, Q&A sessions with NBA and WNBA Legends, a game at the NBA Arena, and attendance of the NBA game between the Denver Nuggets and Boston Celtics.

Zhandro is a 16-year-old lad who shows keen interest with the sports of basketball at an early age of 5 in the Philippines. He & his family migrated to Sydney, Australia when he was 8 & eventually moved to Hobart, Tasmania where he joined a local basketball club at the age of 13.

Since then, he was unstoppable in being active with the said sports. He participated in some national (his schools under 17 team won Silver in Avondale NSW and he was the team captain) and international tournaments, including Manila Live 2024.

Aside from playing basketball, he’s also doing building experience refereeing and volunteer coaching as his way of sharing back some of his time to the club/community.

Players will compete against NBA Basketball Schools from around the world and showcase their skills on an international stage.

NBA Basketball School Australia delivers premier basketball training for boys and girls aged 6-18, offering camps and term programs in Sydney, Melbourne, Newcastle, Canberra, and the Gold Coast.

The mission of NBA Basketball School Australia is to inspire, connect and empower youth in Australia through the power of basketball.

Established by the NBA’s Elite Basketball Development Team, the program takes a holistic approach to nurturing a lifelong love for the sport. NBA Basketball School Australia focuses on teaching fundamental basketball skills while instilling essential values like teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship.
