Have fun, meet people in Mosaic Festival this Sunday

Melba Marginson, Executive Director of the Victorian Immigrant and Refugee Women’s Coalition, is inviting the Filipino community to be part of Mosaic Festival, a free fun day celebrating women in multicultural Victoria.

The Mosaic Festival will be staged at the QV Square behind the Queen Victoria Women’s Centre 210 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne on April 6, Sunday, from 11 am to 4 pm.

Filipino performers are 2013 X-Factor finalist KELEBEK, Face of K-Mart Model and soul singer Nicole Joy and the Filipino Friendship Group of Melton. Other performers are Aria awardee singer-composer, Kavisha Mazella. They will also be joined by Trio Bem Brasil and African and Turkish singers.

The audience will be treated to many participatory dances, from the traditional Aramean folk dance and Muslim Filipino dance to the coquettish dances of the Polynesians, belly dancing, jumpy Bangladeshi and Bollywood dances and the totally expressive African dances.

The QV Square will transform into an interactive cultural marketplace, adorned with cultural displays and teeming with women in their colourful traditional costumes. There are information stalls and a stall dedicated to pre-loved women’s accessories.

The crowd will be able to taste multicultural desserts and drink tea served by the famous Afghan Tea Cycle. A roving Turkish “Santa” will delight the audience with his gifts. There are kids’ activities too!

This is a free event for everyone.
