Merin holds “Skins” exhibit

Previous posts

Jake Merin, a Filipino contemporary artist held his 7th solo art exhibition at Obscura Gallery in St. Kilda from 11 October to 17 November 2012. The just concluded art show titled “Skins” featured his latest visual art creation done in mixed media.  The event was attended by several art enthusiasts and critics highlighting the occasion with excellent feedback and reviews.

An active member of FAME (Filipino Artist of Melbourne), Jake conveys to the Australian community a dose of modern art in his own language and taste. Inspired by the diversity of Australian culture, he sourced his ideas with variations of texture and color embracing contemporary themes of solitude, reverie, and optimism.

During the six week run, he also conducted an “Artist Talk” for young and aspiring artist composed of art students and enthusiasts to help them get oriented and motivated in visual arts.  He hopes to see himself sharing his knowledge and experience by conducting art workshops to the younger breed of artist while promoting Filipino art ingenuity, an objective he shares with his fellow FAME members.
