A night of glitter and glamour in Warrnambool

The Filipino Community in Warrnambool Inc (FCWI) celebrated the 125th Philippine Independence Day last 3 June at the City Memorial Bowls Club, Warrnambool. The event was attended by Filipino community members from around the south-west region of Victoria including Colac, Portland, Terang, Camperdown, Simpson, Hamilton as well as guests from Melbourne. 

The highlight of the occasion was the awarding of the Best in Filipiniana and Best in Barong for both adults and children, which also included a parade to celebrate Philippine Independence Day. 

The FCWI – 125th Independence Day 2023 Best in Barong and Filipiniana Winners were: Jessa Gabito – Best in Filipiniana, Jovielyn Esong – Ms Luzon, Leah Macahis – Ms Visayas, Werlita Bacus – Ms Mindanao, Clinton Saunders – Best in Barong, Abigail Bridgman – Little Best in Filipiniana and Rafael Asidor – Little Best in Barong.

The emcees of the event were Gabby Gabriella Louise Martinez and Maricris Canuda Clarke.
