DESPITE endless debates on alleged discrepancies in automated voting, which included an unusually bloated number of votes that have since been invalidated, lawmakers managed to proceed with canvassing of ballots for president and vice president on Tuesday at the Batasan Complex in Quezon City.
Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile summoned officials of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) led by Chairman Jose Melo to explain the alleged discrepancies in the total number of votes cast and the number of ballots counted in some provinces, as noted by the counsels for presidential candidates Jamby Madrigal and Eddie Villanueva and those for Sen. Manuel Roxas
