FAVI celebrates independence day in style

Independence Day is a joyous occasion and the Filipino Association of Victoria Inc. (FAVI) led by its President Mila Cathery celebrated it with great pomp and show last 22 June 2013 at the Langham Hotel.

FAVI is one of the oldest Filipino organisations in Victoria being founded in 1961. It was incorporated in 1982.

This year’s guests enjoyed buffet, drinks and live music by Tropical Trio and the cultural presentation led by Rose Simonsen doing the Muslim dance. Major sponsors were Western Union coordinated by Liza Di Blasio, Jopen Quintero of J&J Express Money Remittance, and Philippine Tours.

FAVI officers for 2013 are: Mila Cathery, President; Divine Basa, Vice President; Rebecca Evenden, Secretary; Armi Alvarez, Treasurer; Helena Padanis, Auditor; Grace Deverala, PRO; and Francis Solier and Precy Whitehead, Committee Officers.
