FCCVI aged care packages now in La Trobe Valley Gippsland

In line with its objective to provide the best care to senior members of Filipino-Australian families in Victoria, The Filipino Community Council of Victoria (FCCVI) is expanding its operations in the Gippsland region.

On the 3rd of December, members of FCCVI’s executive committee visited the town of Morwell to meet with the founding members and clients for its Commonwealth Health Support Program (CSHP) and Home Care Packages Program (HCP) in the area. They spoke with several families and individuals requiring in-home aged-care assistance, to assess their needs and identify their personal requirements.

Spearheading the effort was FCCVI’s newly re-elected President Marlon De Leon, assisted by Roxanne Sarthou (FCCVI PRO), Laura Valdivia (FCCVI Client Services Coordinator) and Jean Melendres (FCCVI Client Services Officer). They undertook the 3-hour drive out of Melbourne to gather first-hand information that could lead to establishing full-scale aged-care operations to assist Filipino-Australian families in the area. They were hosted by the incumbent SPAG (Samahan ng mga Pilipino sa Gippsland) President, Jerry Baladjay,

As FCCVI expands its aged care services in the La Trobe Valley and Gippsland, individuals seeking support can also explore other home care package providers in the region to find services that best meet their needs.

The town of Morwell is also expected to be the site of an upcoming Filipino Festival to be held on the 13th of February 2022. The festival will be held on site of the town’s Sunday Market and jointly hosted by FCCVI and SPAG. It will coincide with the formal launch of FCCVI’s Home Care Services in the area. The festival is expected to draw participants and attendees from all over Gippsland and the Latrobe Valley.
