Filipino fighter Petalcorin stops Panamanian Tello to win WBA interim world title

Filipino light flyweight Randy “Ultra Tune” Petalcorin (22-1-1, 17 KOs) has claimed the WBA interim light flyweight title against Walter Tello at the Mercedes Benz Arena in Shanghai last 26th August.

Randy, who is sponsored by Ultra Tune Australia, dominated the fight with a charged right hook, and brutal left uppercut ending the bout in the seventh round.

The Australia Combat Sports Unit-registered boxer and Australian top-rated Petalcorin won every round on the scorecards.

“Randy stepped up tonight to KO Tello in seven rounds and he has the talent and ability to be the premier boxer in the light flyweight division,” said Manager Peter Maniatis.

The win improved Petalcorin’s record to 22-1-1 with 17KOs while Tello dropped 20-8 with 8KOs.

Boxing champ Manny Pacquiao was at ringside for the Top Rank-promoted card along with boxing legend Freddie Roach and Bob Arum and everyone agreed that a new star is born for world boxing with the 22-year-old Petalcorin.
