Filipinos’ favourite singer David Pomeranz is in Melbourne

imagesThe multi-platinum award winning recording artist and songwriter David Pomeranz returns to Melbourne this June as one of the stars of the Melbourne Cabaret Festival which will be held on 26 June – 7 July 2013.

He will perform the Melbourne premiere of his show Chaplin: A Life – in Concert at Chapel Off Chapel in Prahran on 27 (Thursday) and 28 June (Friday).  David will also star amongst a glittering international line-up for the Melbourne Cabaret Festival Opening Gala on 26 June (Wednesday) at the Palais Theatre.  The Gala also features Mary Wilson of the Supremes, along with four other international cabaret stars, and Australia’s Rhonda Burchmore, Trevor Ashley, and more.

David is much-loved by the Filipino community in Melbourne and worldwide, with millions of album sales making him one of the Philippines’ highest selling recording artists.

His compositions have been recorded by a stellar group of international artists including Barry Manilow and Dave Clark and his work performed by dozens of household names, including Bette Midler, Freddy Mercury, The Carpenters, Harry Belafonte, Missy Elliot, Donna Summer, and Cliff Richard.

His albums have hit platinum sales ten times in the Philippines and, in 2007, David became the first international music star to be awarded the Key to the City of Manila.

  1. Even if you’re not a David Pomeranz fan, Chaplin: A Life in Concert is one show, which a lover of music and theatre art has to see. The man humbly described it as just one crazy musicale wherein he single-handedly plays 30 or so characters but in truth, it’s a great 90-minute display of unbelievable artistry and palpable passion. David is a master of his art, a pure genius. He owns this project–every bit of it. I am glad that I got to see him beyond all those great love songs in which the world is trying to confine him. He deserves his industry’s respect and admiration because there is no one like him. Just like Chaplin.
