UPDATE: The Regine Velasquez “Freedom” concert has been postponed. Future date to be announced.
Freedom can mean a lot of things. Given our current situation, freedom is being able to do our normal tasks without fear and anxiety due to the pandemic. For Ms. Regine Velasquez her concert is called Freedom because she wants to do a different show, free of expectations and enjoy the freedom of singing what she wants to sing.
Also known as Asia’s Songbird, Regine knew that singing is what she wants to do for the rest of her life once she first set foot on stage and had a taste of performing and hearing the people’s applause. She bagged the title of Bagong Kampeon when she was 14 years old and hasn’t stopped since. She knew early on that her voice is God’s gift and wants to share it with everyone. Now that she is one of the best-known performers in the country, she continues to sing to inspire others and to show that if she made it, others can, too.
She said that this concert will showcase a totally different repertoire which will surprise her fans. Regine will be performing songs outside of her comfort zone, totally different genres that her fans are not used to hearing her sing. She asked that the fans lower their expectations, so that they can be surprised and fully enjoy the show. But of course, being passionate about what she does, she will deliver her best (200% if you will) so that her energy and emotions will carry through the screen to her audience.
The ‘Freedom: Regine Velasquez-Alcasid Digital Concert’ will be set on ABS CBN’s concert stage together with a live band, back-up singers, dancers and surprise guests. No expense will be spared for those who look forward to her fabulous concert gowns, as Regine will also have four costume changes throughout the show.
Freedom will be aired live through KTX.ph on February 14 – Valentine’s Day at 8 pm Manila time (11 pm Australia-AEDT). As expected, ticket sales broke records hitting the 500k mark within 10 minutes of ticket release and 1M after 12 hours. VIP Tickets are already sold out but General Admission tickets are still available for PhP1,200 or USD 24.99.
