Global Pinoy Music – How ‘Beat This Philippines’ have tapped into the future of Filipino music

By Cameron Klepiak

A new emerging era of Filipino music – GLOPM is an acronym for GLObal Pinoy Music, an era built on our culture as Filipinos and love for great music. This new era plays on the primary genre of OPM, which we all know too well and witnessed in the lounge room of every Filipino household growing up – from the heartbreaking karaoke ballads to the inspired storytelling of our people’s hardships and love for life.

The GLOPM movement in this new era is a hub for Filipino artists from the Philippines and across the globe who have a modern approach to music-making. Music adapted from the popular style of Pop, R&B and Hip-hop, which now dominates global charts.

GLOPM is made by Filipinos, for Filipinos – Filo by blood or by heritage. The concept behind the movement is not to shut doors for other heritages but to be proud of our own and live our culture throughout the world.

It’s now time to show the world that Filipino’s have what it takes to be world leaders in the music industry, and with our hard work ethic and talent beyond measure – it’s no surprise that the wheels are already in motion.

Beat This Philippines – an outlet based in Cebu that first started as a territorial radio show three years ago, has now taken the GLOPM movement in its stride. In June 2021, Beat This Philippines announced its first ‘SESSIONS WORLDWIDE’ series, a curation of 30 Filipino artists across the globe who perform their successful releases for the world to see.

The project saw artists from countries like the US, Canada, UK, Germany, New Zealand, Australia and the Philippines band together to carry the GLOPM flag into existence and is now available for everyone to see on the Beat This Philippines YouTube channel

Witness history and join the movement with Beat This Philippines as they discover and showcase new Filipino talent that the world needs to hear!

If you or anyone you know is a Filipino artist and wants to be showcased, feel free to find the team at www.beatthisph.com, and they would be happy to hear from you!
