Independence fete in Bundaberg

By Lee Espiritu-Pendleton

The Filipino community in regional Bundaberg, Queensland celebrated the 115th Philippine Independence Day and the 29th year of their Filipino-Australian Association on 8 June 2013. Cultural folk dance numbers have been presented and at the same time all talents from the local community such as singing were presented to entertain the guests and audience. Guests include the local Bundaberg mayor and councilor, as well as Agnes Ashley and Patti Webb both Bundaberg multicultural workers who help and support settlers or migrants in the Bundaberg area.

Meanwhile, the Bundaberg Filipino-Australian Catholic community celebrated the Philippine Independence Day with a Thanksgiving Mass at the Holy Rosary Catholic Parish Church in Bundaberg last 2 June 2013 on the Feast of Corpus Christi.  It was initiated by one of Bundaberg community pioneering leader Dympna EP Kimmorley OAM.
