Independence day celebration in Perth

The Filipino Australian Multicultural Association Inc. (FAMAS) celebrated its first anniversary and its second Philippine Independence Anniversary with a Grand Masquerade Ball on 8 June 2013 in Balcatta, WA.  Everyone enjoyed the delicious Filipino delicacies, the cultural performances, and later danced with a live band until midnight.  FAMAS has new officers to fill the remaining spots and they were formally welcomed when they took their oaths officiated by Mr. Tony Krsticevic, MLA for Carine. City of Bayswater’s Terry Kenyon and Philippine Consul General Gerry Donnelly presented four community awards to Joey Fabila, Lina Fabila, Rizalina Clements and Zoe Murray-Stone.  There were a lot of happy raffle prize winners including the iPad grand prize winner.  FAMAS President Anita Kinkela said “Thank you to our sponsors Optimum Property and Finance Group, John Hughes, Joey Fabila, Paul Dodds, and Zoe Stone, and Newcrest Security.  Thank you to everyone who came and supported us.  We look forward to having you all again on our next event, the International Food and Cultural Festival on October 27.”  For details, go to the official website famas-inc.org or like the Facebook page FAMAS Perth.  FAMAS’ first Annual General Meeting is scheduled in September.
