Jollibee set to open first Australian branch in Sydney

First posted on philtimes.com.au

After several years in the making, Filipinos in Australia will soon be able to enjoy the taste of Jollibee down under.

The site of the first branch of Jollibee is indicated to be in Campbelltown in Sydney’s outer Western suburbs, with the pre-construction development plans currently in process.

The free-standing branch will be adjacent to two other new outlets of Taco Bell and Krispy Kreme within the same development. Jollibee Campbelltown will include drive thru as part of the plans.

According to the website of Campbelltown City Council, the Development Application was submitted in March 2021, with the following description: “Demolition of existing structures and construction of 3 take away food and drink premises and associated signage” at 3 Harbord Road, Campbelltown.

The preliminary development drawings which include the Ground Floor Plan and Signage Details were submitted in October 2021. In February 2022, Campbelltown City Council has referred back to the developer with several conditions as part of its Deferred Commencement Notice, requesting for the amendments to be incorporated as part of the development plan. According to the Notice, in order for the Construction Certificate to be issued, “the amended plans are to be submitted to Council for the written approval of Council’s Executive Manager Urban Centres.”

Further details which are currently available for Public Exhibition can be obtained from the Campbelltown City Council Development Online services website, through an application number search: 962/2021/DA-C. Mr. Tom Moxey of Campbelltown NSW was instrumental in providing this information to The Philippine Times.

Last 19 February during the Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan webinar organised by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI Sydney) in Australia and the Australia Philippines Business Council (APBC), details were revealed about Jollibee being now ready for franchising opportunities in Australia. Investors interested to start a Jollibee restaurant will be needing at least $400,000-$1 million initially with a commitment to open multiple locations. Enquiries can be directed to jollibee@ufranchiseasia.com.
