Look how far you’ve come

Congratulations on making it this far. You are here; you are continuing to move forward and getting through this pandemic. What we went through and what we are experiencing now is no laughing matter, an inspirational quote will not bring back the things you lost in 2020. Many of us lost loved ones, our ability to earn a living, our health, and also lost things we cannot quantify. You have made it this far; just continue to ride this wave. Yes, there is no guarantee of a smooth sail in 2021. The only guarantee is after 365 days, you will say goodbye to 2021 and welcome 2022.

I urge you to use the lessons you learned in 2020 to propel you for not just a great 2021, but to set you up for the upcoming decades. Let us not romanticise resiliency; if you keep doing the same thing over and over, and you are expecting a different result. Albert Einstein defines that as insanity. I challenge you to be open to the “new normal”. Actually you have no choice but to adapt or you will get left behind. In 2021, I challenge you to do something different. Now is the time to go and get what you want and what you deserve. The truth is, you are still the one who can dictate what you will have, where you will go, what type of experience you will go through. You are still the person in charge of navigating where you want to go.

Someone asked me the other day, “What is the biggest lesson I learned in 2020?” I don’t know about you, but I learned a lot about myself in the last nine months of the COVID-19 lockdown than the last decade. I applied the relevant things I learned from the thousands of books and tapes that I digested throughout the years. My main lessons in 2020 are the following:

  • Lesson 1, consistently work towards your dreams or you will be hired by someone to work on theirs.
  • Lesson 2, brand yourself as someone who is indispensable; acquire the right skills and execute them better than anyone in the marketplace, then the market will seek your services as well as your expertise; the public will be willing to pay a high premium because of the value and results you bring.
  • Lesson 3, nothing is permanent. You cannot have an endless summer or an endless winter. The seasons will come and they will go. The hardships and inconveniences that you experienced in 2020 may carry over into 2021, but it will not be there forever.

The only thing that is permanent is the consistent actions we need to take to bring what we want into reality. This Holiday season, I wish that you and your family a safe and wonderful Christmas. Thanks for the continuous support, and my hope is that 2021 brings you boundless opportunities and continuous growth.

Until next time STAY FOCUSED!
