PCSFFI celebrates special events

November was a busy and fun month for members and friends of the Philippine Cultural Society for Families and Friends Inc (PCSFFI). With All Souls’ Day, Remembrance Day, Psychology Week and Melbourne Cup their days was acked with a healthy recipe of activities, connectedness and enjoyment. The members and friends who have gone before them were remembered with a mass officiated by Msgr. Joselito “Litoy” Asis. As a tribute to the fallen heroes, Laurie Wilks beautifully read the poem “In Flanders Field.” Lest we forget.

Ms Lerna Vasquez brought a youthful energy as emcee for the day. Mrs. Mila Casole, PCSFFI Treasurer, welcomed the members and guests followed by updates on programs and membership by Dr. Tonette Wilks, PCSFFI President. After the short formalities the fun-filled activities rolled on. “That Horse Relay Race was so much fun!,” says Julie Palang Cinco of Avondale Heights Group. How could you resist community line dancing when Frank and Susan Caruana are leading the group? The dance movements can really help everyone age positively in a fun way.

Filipinos not only love singing and dancing. When the Fashion and Hat Parade came, they were not to be outdone! They didn’t need to go to the Flemington to show off their fashion outfit complete with fascinators! The ladies participated and proudly displayed their modeling talent as they were individually called on the catwalk. The winners were: Mrs Rosalina Brandt, Mrs Thelma Cerezo and Ms Patricia Tandoc, first, second and third, respectively. Mr. Ian Brandt won the men’s fashion.

Monthly mini raffles ran by Cleofe and Margarita Manalili is always a hit. Next month’s Christmas Major Raffle will surely bring joy to many people on 6 December 2015.
