Pinoy Food Trip: A festival celebrating Filipino gastronomy in Melbourne

Victorians are in for a mouthwatering adventure during the highly anticipated Pinoy Food Trip event! From August 8 to November 8, 2023, foodies can feast on the rich flavours and dishes hailing from the Philippines. Fifty Filipino restaurants, kiosks, and virtual food “stalls” on the www.onlinedepot.store will join this culinary initiative.

OnlineDepot is a digital platform focused on supporting and promoting Filipino businesses in Australia. The “Pinoys in Melbourne” Facebook group of 42,000 members is the vibrant community behind the launch of the platform. The collaboration aims to highlight the best of Filipino cuisine to the wider Victorian community while supporting local Filipino entrepreneurs. Consul General Maria Lourdes Salcedo, who is an enthusiastic advocate for Filipino culture and products, proudly supports the initiative.

Pinoy Food Trip focuses on the diverse Filipino food now available to Victorians, from simple, home-based cooking to fancy restaurant dishes. The festival will feature a wide array of traditional dishes passed down through generations, carrying the Filipino culture and heritage.

There will also be a showcase of the Filipino’s love for everything sweet, like leche flan, bibingka, and halo-halo. These sweet offerings celebrate the Philippines’ diverse influences from Spanish, Chinese, and Malay indigenous ingredients.

To celebrate the first-ever Pinoy Food Trip festival, customers can win raffle prizes! The first prize is a trip for two to the Philippines, the second prize is a dinner voucher from Serai, the current Good Food Guide Best Restaurant in Melbourne, and the third prize is a dinner voucher from Ginger Olive, awarded the Best BBQ in Melbourne 2023 by Restaurant Guru. Both restaurants are destinations in this Pinoy Food Trip. Details, a list of participating businesses, and terms and conditions are on the website: www.onlinedepot.store.
