Dr. Belen Contreras Mendonez passed away peacefully last 2 August 2015 at Juniper Pilgrim Hostel, East Fremantle, Western Australia at the age of 89.
December 26, 1925 – August 2, 2015

Belen was the beloved and loving wife of Pedro (deceased), mother of Bernadette Russell of Syracuse, New York; Gemma Mendonez of Melbourne, Australia, Antonio of Chicago, Illinois; Corazon Keeley of Perth, Maria Rosario of Melbourne, Australia, and Maria Clarissa Mendonez of Perth, Western Australia; grandmother of 13, and great grandmother of 8.

She came to live in Melbourne with her (deceased) husband in 1985. She moved to Perth Western Australia in 2006.

She was a doctorate in special education, delegated as a scholar in many foreign countries dealing with various kinds of handicapped children, visited, hospitals and schools for delinquent and maladjusted children. She was an active member and President of the Philippine-Australia Alliance of Women in Melbourne Australia in 1988 and she and her husband Pedro promoted career opportunities in Victoria for Asian professionals.

May God bestow peace and happiness on Belen, who will always affectionately remain in the hearts, minds and prayers of her family, friends and the Filipino-Australian community.
