St Francis’ Melbourne Sizzles for a Cause

By Versie Tamblyn

Putting compassion into action, the St Francis’ community with the coordinated effort of the Pastoral Centre Volunteers and friends, put together a “Sausage Sizzle” to raise funds for the victims of typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) which left horrific devastation in the Philippines.

The fundraising event was held on 24 November 2013 at St Francis’ Church in Melbourne. It was well attended by the church community and the public who just happened to be around the area. The event raised $4,300 and rising with contributions still coming from people who became aware and are willing to help. All the funds raised will be sent directly to the Blessed Sacrament Fathers in Tacloban City, who have the overwhelming task of looking after the many destitute people in the affected areas.
