Melbourne’s newest Filipino-founded community links faith, service and professional life

MELBOURNE, VIC – A Filipino-founded lay community known for bringing together faith and working life will mark a key milestone in Melbourne on 18 April 2026, when the Brotherhood of Christian Businessmen and Professionals (BCBP) hosts its seventh Breakfast Meeting, with Philippine Consul General Jesus Domingo expected to attend.

The gathering reflects the group’s emerging presence in the city and the evolving ways Filipino-Australians build connection, identity, and service in Victoria.

The Brotherhood of Christian Businessmen and Professionals, which began in the Philippines, has grown internationally as a network for men and women in business, trades, and various professions who seek to live out Christian values in everyday decisions – at work, at home, and in the wider community. For many migrants, this combination of spirituality, practical formation, and peer support offers a sense of continuity while adjusting to life in Australia.

In Melbourne, early gatherings have drawn Filipino-Australian professionals, small business owners, and community members looking for a values-based space to connect. BCBP’s presence in the city is also supported by the Archdiocese of Melbourne, placing the community within the broader life of the local Catholic Church and providing pastoral guidance.

Community groups such as BCBP continue to play a role in supporting migrants as they navigate life in a new country. Beyond regular gatherings, these networks create opportunities for mentorship, shared experiences, and informal support, while maintaining cultural values such as hospitality and bayanihan.

For second-generation Filipino-Australians, such spaces also offer a way to engage with Filipino values in a contemporary setting – not only through traditions and language, but through conversations about ethics, service, and responsibility in daily life.

BCBP Breakfast Meeting

The upcoming breakfast meeting will provide an opportunity for participants to connect, share experiences, and reflect on the role of faith in professional and community life.
