Tasic Pure Oils Named Finalist at the 2024 Australian Women’s Small Business Champion Awards

Must read

Tasic Pure Oils, a brand specialising in natural skincare and haircare solutions, was recently named a finalist in the Champion Online Business category for the 2024 Australian Women’s Small Business Champion Awards. This recognition reflects the efforts and progress Tasic Pure Oils has made from its beginnings to becoming a notable brand in the industry.

Recognition at the Australian Women’s Small Business Champion Awards

The awards ceremony, held at The Star Sydney on 24th August 2024, celebrated Australia’s most influential and outstanding women in business across 58 industry categories. Tasic Pure Oils was honoured to stand among the finalists, representing not only its own achievements but also the vibrant community it serves.

“This program is a celebration of women in small business, aiming to provide recognition of incredible female leaders and the invaluable contribution they make to the Australian way of life,” said Steve Loe, Managing Director of Precedent Productions, who created and presented the awards.

For Lecelle Natalia Tasic, Founder of Tasic Pure Oils and Alta Kate Australia, this recognition is both a validation of her hard work and a motivator for future growth. Reflecting on the journey, she shared, “(I) didn’t win last night. But come to think of it, I was defeated by just one person. The mere fact that I was there as a selected finalist meant I had already bested more than 3,000 businesses across Australia. To me, that is already a win. I will take this as an opportunity to strive harder next time. To walk the red carpet that night is something I never expected in my lifetime. Thank you for giving it to me, Papa God. One day, it will be me. But for now, I will happily clap for others until it will be my turn.”

The Genesis of Tasic Pure Oils

The story of Tasic Pure Oils is deeply personal and rooted in love and necessity. It began when Lecelle’s six-year-old daughter suffered a stroke from a ruptured aneurysm, requiring emergency surgery that left her head shaved. During her daughter’s recovery in the Neuro Ward of Sydney Children’s Hospital, Lecelle was driven by a singular goal: to find a product that could safely soothe her daughter’s sensitive scalp and aid in her hair’s recovery.

Unable to find suitable, natural options on the market, Lecelle drew inspiration from her Filipino heritage. She created the Long and Strong Hair Care System, a unique formulation that combined “tuno” (coconut milk) and “sabila” (aloe vera) — traditional hair care ingredients from the Philippines. The words “tuno” and “sabila,” from the Visayan language, reflect the cultural roots of these natural ingredients. By modernising this age-old blend with the bounty of Australian produce, Lecelle crafted a product that embodies the purity, care, and cultural heritage of Tasic Pure Oils.

Overcoming Challenges and Embracing Innovation

Starting a business comes with its own set of challenges, and Tasic Pure Oils was no exception. Initially, the company adopted a business-to-business (B2B) approach, cold calling and emailing potential collaborators. However, as a small business, these efforts often fell short due to the reluctance of larger stores to partner with a less-established brand.

Recognising the need for a new strategy, Lecelle turned to social media to amplify her brand’s reach. By partnering with influencers and user-generated content (UGC) creators through exchange deals, Tasic Pure Oils gained authentic reviews and endorsements that resonated with potential customers. This approach, coupled with targeted social media ads, significantly boosted the brand’s visibility and engagement.

Looking Ahead

As Tasic Pure Oils moves forward, its recognition as a finalist is a proud milestone on a journey that began with a mother’s love and dedication. Lecelle and her team remain committed to providing natural, effective skincare solutions while making a positive impact in their community.

Reflecting on her journey, Lecelle shared, “When I started Tasic Pure Oils, I was already happy it could provide a little bit more than basic needs for my kid. Not until 2022, when my daughter had a stroke from a ruptured brain aneurysm at 6 years old, requiring emergency craniotomy, did I have to stop working to attend to her care. That was a time when I could not rely on the stability of my nursing profession and had to turn to business to keep us afloat. For the duration of her long admission, I stationed operations for Tasic Pure Oils in our hospital room. I brought stocks from home and shipped orders from the nearby Australia Post.”

From these humble beginnings, Tasic Pure Oils has grown into a brand that not only embraces its cultural roots but also celebrates innovation and perseverance. Lecelle’s ability to adapt and reinvent her business strategy is a testament to her resilience and vision.

Moving Forward

Tasic Pure Oils is more than just a business; it is a story of resilience, cultural pride, and the pursuit of natural beauty. Its recognition as a finalist in the 2024 Australian Women’s Small Business Champion Awards is a testament to the power of perseverance and the importance of staying true to one’s values. As Lecelle continues her journey from a mother seeking to heal her daughter to an entrepreneur leading a celebrated brand, Tasic Pure Oils is poised to make an even greater impact in the years to come, bringing the timeless essence of “tuno” and “sabila” to a global audience.
