The OPM Hitmakers in Sydney

Step into Liverpool Catholic  Club at Liverpool, Sydney, on the 1st of May and take a nostalgic trip down memory lane with the original Hitmakers – Rey Valera, Nonoy Zuñiga and Marco Sison.

Valera, Zuñiga and Sison were all teenage idols – each one shining on their own and together, they’re still unstoppable!  They’re Philippine’s  music legends from the 70s, the time when original
Philippine music (OPMN) exploded and they brought you hits after unforgettable hits. Their songs kept you with the beat throughout your school days; songs that made your heart leap and fall in love; and songs that made you cry.

Singer, songwriter, arranger and music producer Rey Valera brought you heart-wrenching songs that refuse to fade like “Kung Maputi Na Ang Buhok Mo,” “Kung Kailangan Mo Ako,” “Malayo Pa Ang Umaga,” “Mr DJ  and many more.  He has written music scores for blockbuster movies and been sung by other Filipino artists.

Crooner Nonoy Zuñiga was on his way to being a doctor at the University of Santo Tomas, but his musical talents were difficult to ignore. His deep, velvety voice took him down the road of stardom.  His unforgettable hits include, from the upbeat tempo of  “Magandang Gabi,” to endless caressing love tunes like  ”Bato sa Buhangin,” “Love Without Time, “Live for Love,” “Saan Ka Man Naroroon” and many, many more.

From his win in Student Canteen, Marco Sison became a teenage idol with songs like “My Love Will See You Through,” “Always  Make Believe” and many others. Last year, he clinched the ‘Iconic Media Personality for Music’ award.

All three artists are multi-award winners and undeniably deserving to be called true legends.  They’ve remained constant through five decades, entertaining various generations with their timeless classics that have endured over time.

As Valera once said, “We, and our songs, connect you to the past you once lived.”  So swoon one more time and relive those precious memories of a time gone but not forgotten.
