The Top Ways To Protect Your Skin From Harmful UV Rays Here In Australia

There are many great things about living here in Australia and we are so lucky to live in such a beautiful country with many different kinds of wildlife and nature. We get a pretty good climate for much of the year and people in the UK would kill for the hot weather that we experience on a regular basis. With more sunshine, however, comes more UV rays and so we have to do more to protect our skin from its damaging effects including skin cancer.

We all know about sunscreen but many of us try to cut corners and buy the cheapest cream possible which doesn’t provide us with the protection that we need every single day. This is one of the reasons why you need to put your hand in your pocket and spend money on Medik8 physical sunscreen which is going to provide you with the protection that you need and you can’t put a price on your good health. The following are just some other top ways to protect your skin from harmful UV rays here in Australia.

Stay in the shade

You need to reduce your exposure to UV light throughout the day and so if you find yourself standing in the sun for too long then get yourself under the closest tree to provide you with some much-needed shade. Get into the habit of carrying around an umbrella for you because umbrellas are not just for rainy days.

Wearing the right clothing

It can be tempting wearing short sleeved shirts and T-shirts when venturing out into the sunshine but you are doing nothing to protect the skin on your body. Invest your money in shirts with long sleeves, wear long pants instead of shorts and believe it or not but dark colours actually provide you with more protection. The more tightly woven the fabric, the better protection that it provides.

Always apply sunscreen

It has been talked about already previously before but it is worth mentioning again. Don’t try to cut corners when it comes to the health of your skin and so invest in a quality sunscreen that is going to provide you with the protection that your body needs. Make sure that you reapply your sunscreen every couple of hours and more so if you are sweating a lot due to the heat.

Invest in a good hat

A baseball hat cannot help you here because it leaves your ears and the back of your neck exposed all day long. It makes more sense to invest in a hat with a wide brim and this helps to protect all areas of your head including your forehead, your nose and more importantly, your scalp if you are starting to recede in this area.

Always remember to invest in a quality pair of sunglasses as well as these can help to protect your eyes from the harmful UV rays. Be sure to check the label before buying.
