Eleven-year old Bridget McNamara is currently part of Shrek Jr The Musical playing the role of Young Fiona, Young Shrek, Little Shrek and Dwarf. The musical show, presented by the Williamstown Musical Theatre Company, started last 5 August and will run until 21 August at the Williamstown Mechanics Institute Theatre. Due to public demand, an extra performance will be held on 20 August at 1.30pm.

Entering the world of theatre
Bridget began her interest in musical theatre when she auditioned for Little Mermaid Jr at Williamstown Theatre Company and made it though. “Before she auditioned, she never had any experience or any singing lessons at all. But, thanks to Josh Cinco for encouraging Bridget to do so. From a young age Bridget has been involved in dance and modelling. Then, later adding singing and drama,” Rose McNamara told The Philippine Times.

Bridget’s exposure led her towards performing in various Filipino events like when she guested during Mikey Bustos’ concert in Australia. She was also one of the casts of Beauty and the Beast at Playback Production and played the role of a wolf, cutlery maid and a student.

About Shrek Junior The Musical
It’s a “big bright beautiful world” for everyone’s favourite ogre in Shrek Jr based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film. In a faraway kingdom, the green ogre Shrek finds his swamp invaded by banished fairytale misfits, runaways who’ve been cast off by Lord Farquaad, a tiny terror with big ambitions. When Shrek sets off with a wise-cracking donkey to confront Farquaad, he’s handed a task – if he rescues feisty Princess Fiona from the Dragon-guarded tower, his swamp will be returned to him. But, a fairy tale wouldn’t be complete without unexpected twists and turns along the way. Part romance and part twisted fairy tale, Shrek Jr is an irreverently fun show for the whole family.
