SYDNEY, Oct. 5 (PNA/Xinhua) — Australians will be among the world’s first to get the Google Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones.
Fairfax Media reported on Wednesday that the new Pixel phones which is also Google’s flagship Android smartphones, will be available for order from Wednesday on Google’s online store.
The sleek, polished aluminum smartphone features Google’s Assistant and new cameras that are expected to give the iPhone 7 a run for its money.
In addition, Google is also throwing in free unlimited photo and video cloud storage for anyone who buys the Pixel smartphone.
The phones can be bought through Australian telecommunication giant Telstra and reseller JB Hi-Fi.
The smartphones will come in two sizes which is a 5 inch screen and a phablet sized 5.5 inch screen with prices starting at 1,079 Australian dollars (USD821) which is in the same league as the latest iPhones or top tier Samsung phones.
The devices, Google’s first smartphones with a virtual reality headset, a smart speaker, Wi-Fi router and an upgraded version of its Chromecast streaming gadget, were rolled out on Wednesday at an event in San Francisco for a worldwide distribution.
