Do You Suffer from Numbness in Your Feet and Legs? Find an Alternative Treatment Option

Many people experience numbness in feet and legs because, at times, they put too much pressure on a particular side of the body, reducing blood flow. However, in case you experience unexplained or long-lasting numbness of either your leg or feet, then there is some serious underlying medical condition that you need to focus on. All those people who face tingling feelings or long-term numbness in either feet or legs should know that it might be due to fibromyalgia, diabetes, peripheral artery disease, or multiple sclerosis.

If you sit in a particular posture for a long time, you might feel numbness temporarily. However, if you have long-lasting numbness in your legs or feet, it is due to some underlying medical condition and could be associated with other diseases.

Listed below are certain conditions that you can associate with numbness.

Posture

Some postural habits might put pressure on specific nerves that will decrease blood flow in the lower limbs, and it becomes a prevalent cause of numbness in the feet and legs for a brief time.

These habits include:

  • Crossing legs for an extended period
  • Kneeling or sitting in a particular posture
  • Wearing tight pants or socks
  • Sitting or resting on the feet

These are some of the habits that can lead to temporary numbness.

Injury

Some people have injuries in the ankle, hip, spine, torso, legs, or feet. These injuries put pressure on nerves, and this causes the legs and the feet to go numb for a short duration. If it is for a long duration, then you can consult a reputed chiropractor and get it treated.

Diabetes

Some people suffer from diabetic neuropathy because diabetes causes damage to their nerves. Diabetic neuropathy can lead to tingling, numbness, and foot pain.

Tumor

Sometimes tumors can pressure the spinal cord, brain, or any portion of feet and legs.

Some home remedies can give you relief from uncomfortable numbness.

Listed below are home remedies that can relieve numbness in the feet and legs if not due to any underlying medical condition.

  • Resting can reduce the pressure on the nerves.
  • You may use your eyes to reduce swelling. Applying coal compressions several times during the day can reduce numbness.
  • Heat can also help you loosen sore or stiff muscles that may pressure nerves and cause severe numbness.
  • Taking an Epsom salt bath may increase circulation of blood flow because Epsom salts have magnesium which is a compound known to improve blood circulation.

You must know sleeping is also crucial because if you have numbness in the leg or feet, it might become worse due to improper sleeping patterns.
