Filipino-Australian contingent shine in Australia Day parade

Filipino-Australian contingent participates at the Australia Day 2018 parade in Melbourne.

The Filipino Community Council of Victoria Inc (FCCVI) bannered the Filipino contingent in the Australian Day parade on 26 January 2018. Garbed in traditional Filipiniana or Barong Tagalog and other Filipino costumes, the participants include FCCVI President Maria Theresa Dumapias (Milestones Nursing Club), Vice President Cecille Wheare (Movement for Filipino Solidarity), Assistant Secretary Ruth Roa (Philippine Language School of Victoria), Treasurer Fe Galindo (Filipino Elderly & Youth Association), Assistant Treasurer Nida Schofield (Filipino Australian Multicultural Support Society), Auditor Josephine Young (SISTA Club), Assistant PRO Choy Symes (Philippine Fiesta of Victoria Inc) and Executive Director Perla Luetic (Philippine Australian Foundation Inc).

Also participated in the parade were Pat Tandoc, President of Filipino Australian Senior Citizens of Victoria; Nela Rosina, Vice President of Philippine Cultural Society of Family & Friends; Sherly Hart, President of Filipino Australian Association of Ballarat; Clem Conag, Golden Wings International; Judith Zamayla, President of Philippine Association of Geelong; Nelda Estores, President of Soriano Orodio Foundation; and Maria Gilles, President of Filipino Bendigo Foundation.

The first Filipino Footy team sponsored by the Australian Filipino Community Services in their Philippine flag-inspired jerseys marched under the United Nations of Footy banner, along with the football teams of other nations.
