Film screening includes two short films on the Lumads (Indigenous Peoples of the southern Philippines):

DEFEND TALAINGOD: THE LUMADS QUEST FOR JUSTICE (10’ 00”)

The Indigenous people of Talaingod in Mindanao, Philippines pushed out of their ancestral lands in the mountains. Personal stories and footage tell of their defence from the incursions of a logging company. Army units occupy their lands committing human rights violations and forcing evacuations.

FACE TO FACE: WOMAN CHIEFTAIN SLAMS POLITICIAN (5’ 03”)

Bae Bibiyaon is proud Indigenous woman elder and teacher of a community forced to evacuate their ancestral land, due to military and paramilitary operations. Politician Nancy Gatamco supports an attempt to force the evacuees out of their refuge and Bae Bibiyaon confronts her with anger.
