An Epic Story Comes to Life

The musical, known for its gripping narrative and heart-stirring score, has been in rehearsal for the past four weeks at Opera Australia’s Surry Hills room. As the extraordinary cast of more than 40 talented performers from across Asia-Pacific readies to move to the Sydney Opera House stage, excitement and anticipation fill the air.

The principal cast member Abigail Adriano, playing Kim, expressed her pride in being a part of this Australian cast, noting the deeply personal connection many have to the story. She emphasized that what has been cultivated over the past four weeks is “incredibly special” and is sure to deeply move Sydney audiences.

The Sydney Opera House Transformation

The production will make a grand move from its rehearsal space to the iconic Sydney Opera House, meeting Miss Saigon’s legendary 4-tonne life-sized helicopter on stage. A seamless transition that symbolizes a new era for this timeless musical.

Since its West End premiere, “Miss Saigon” has won 70 major theatre awards, including three Tony Awards and two Olivier Awards, and has been performed in over 32 countries, showcasing the enduring popularity of this theatrical masterpiece.

A Tale of Love and Survival

Set during the Vietnam War, “Miss Saigon” tells the poignant tale of Kim, a young Vietnamese woman who falls in love with an American G.I. named Chris. Torn apart by war and faced with unbelievable hardship, Kim embarks on an epic journey to reunite with Chris, who is unaware of their son’s existence.

A Sensational Cast

The Australian cast, lead by Seann Miley Moore as the Engineer, is set to bring Boublil and Schönberg’s incredible score to life. The songs including ‘The Heat is On in Saigon,’ ‘The Movie in My Mind,’ ‘Last Night of the World,’ and ‘The American Dream,’ will undoubtedly leave audiences in awe.

Other key cast members include Nigel Huckle as Chris, Kerrie Anne Greenland as Ellen, Nick Afoa as John, Laurence Mossman as Thuy, and Kimberley Hodgson in the role of Gigi.
