The roadmap for workplaces: find out when each workplace will reopen in Melbourne

As part of the announced roadmap for reopening in Victoria, Premier Daniel Andrews noted that a phased return of some workforces will commence from September 28. The Second Step will begin from this date if an average daily coronavirus case numbers between 30-50 is achieved for a 14-day period.

“Around 101,000 workers who are currently unable to attend work will be able to attend work in a number of different industries,” Mr Andrews said.

As part of the roadmap, industries that will open first include:

  • Warehousing
  • Postal services
  • Distribution services
  • Childcare
  • Manufacturing
  • Construction
  • Anyone working outside alone (eg. garden maintenance, landscaping).

Other sectors will reopen at a later date, likely to be from October 26, subject to key threshold case numbers needing to be achieved. This includes retail and hairdressing, and hospitality which includes restaurants, cafes and pubs.
