Adelaide-based Filipina dedicates original composition to Aussie husband for Valentines day

Filipino-Australian songwriter/singer Maggie Cudanin Ebbinghaus expresses her emotions through songs. She uses her song writing skills to send positive messages to humanity and to remind them that there is nothing greater than love. “Love which is expressed in songs has a healing power to both the singers and the listeners,” says Maggie.

Her 2022 single called ‘All Seasons Love’ is her Valentine’s Day gift to her husband who sponsored her to migrate to Australia after her ordeal with domestic violence, severe depression and anxiety.

“This is dedicated to my husband who sponsored me and my 2 kids to migrate to Australia in 2007. I just want to thank him for giving me the opportunity to live a better life after surviving domestic violence in the Philippines,” she said.

Maggie Cudanin Ebbinghaus has no formal music nor song writing education, but it was always her desire to write songs. Unfortunately, whilst suffering from severe depression and anxiety brought about by her miserable past, every time she attempts to write a song, she would only write one line and could not move on.

It took her more than 30 years to gradually forgive those who physically, emotionally, and psychologically injured her. In the end, she also forgave herself for her wrongdoings.

On 2 December 2019 when she finally got rid of her severe depression and anxiety that she had been suffering for more than 30 years, she wrote the song ‘Exit Now’ which is now called ‘Go Away Heartache’. Through this song, she was able to share her message ‘when heartache is gone, there is a space in her heart for love’. She refers to this as the love that she felt the first time she met her Australian husband.

Maggie then decided to write a song for her husband whilst looking at the palm trees on their Trinity Beach house near Cairns, Queensland. She first called the track ‘Love@Waltz,’ but she realised that love is not only felt whilst dancing.

“Love should be felt, enjoyed and practised at all times, whatever the weather, in all occasions like Valentine’s Day, and in all seasons,” she says. Hence the title for her track ‘All Seasons Love’.

“I did the lyrics, melody and recording of All Seasons Love. The music arranger is based in Manila,” says Maggie.

All Seasons Love has been released in time for the Valentine’s Day and is available on all the digital platforms.

Lyrics:

  1. The keyboard seems to understand

That I should write a song for you

It guides my fingers to type the lyrics

And as I look outside the window

The leaves are swaying

The bees keep humming their sweet melody

Lightning and thunder

Help me to gather

The strength and the courage

To sing you a love song

Refrain 1

You are the love of my life

I feel it right from the start

The leaves have stopped falling

And in a moment

The ground will be covered with snow

But nothing can stop me to love you

The leaves are swaying

The bees keep humming their sweet melody

Lightning and thunder

Help me to gather

The strength and the courage

To sing you a love song

Refrain 2

You are the light of my life

Your smile just glows in the dark

It doesn’t matter

Whatever the weather

I hold you close to my heart

Adlib
