Unicef dedicates daycare center to educator

The United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef) has established a day care center in Guimaras Island in honor of a Filipina educator who was killed in a bombing in Pakistan last year.

UNICEF opened the Perseveranda So Memorial Day Care Center in Barangay San Roque, Guimaras Island in honor of So, a former Unicef education chief who was killed in the June 2009 bombing of the Pearl Continental Hotel in Peshawar, Pakistan.

According to Unicef country representative Vanessa Tobin, other memorials are planned as a tribute to So.
