Medical, dental and anti-aging clinic opens in Narre Warren

By Kristhine Gestano

ConGen Gigi Kalong cuts the ceremonial ribbon for the opening of the clinicBanking on their business acumen and time-tested knowledge and skills, Willy Reyes and Dr Lorie de Leon-Andrada bring their dental and medical practice to the south-east with the aim of providing under one roof the much needed variety of health services that is stamped with the distinct brand of warmth and hospitality inherent in Filipino practitioners.

The business partners wasted no time in setting the tone as they intimately welcomed members of the community to their opening day on the 22nd of June, unraveling the facilities that 1 Raven Medical Clinic in Crescent Narre Warren offers.

Everyone was treated like family. Food, songs, dances, and laughter were shared as the duo willingly provided glimpses of their early years in their respective careers and candidly shared their hopes for this venture that guests treat as a ‘blessing’ to the community.

Philippine Honorary Consul General Virginia “Gigi” Kalong joined friends of the pair from Sydney to show unremitting support. Ms Kalong expressed her pride for Filipinos like Willy and Dr Lorie, who have done well in their respective careers here in Australia and become vehicles to touch and transform other people’s lives.

The amiable Willy is a dental prosthetist and clinician. His side of the business offers an extensive range of service that includes removable dentures, partial dentures – part upper, full upper and full lower, and mouth guards. When asked about providing Dr Lorie. and Willydiscounts for pensioners, Willy said that it is his option but he is open to providing that perk for them.

Dr Lorie, on the other hand, is a general practitioner. Women, men, and children’s health are her specialty. She provides immunisation to children and is also licenced to administer vaccines to prevent fever and tuberculosis. The bcg vaccine is given to patients wanting to go to countries where incidence of tubercolosis is high, while the vaccine for q fever is given to people who work with livestock because animals are carriers of this highly infectious disease. Oftentimes, the doctor does group vaccinations in workplaces.

The effervescent Dr Lorie also possesses psychiatry skills and sees patients suffering from depression, schizophrenia, and other mental health problems.

Another feature, which most women were excited about, is the anti-aging service provided by the clinic. Dr Lorie offers botox treatment and promises to “make women a lot fresher”. Those who have had a sample of the treatment were there to show how happy they were with the outcome.

Dr Lorie’s services are bulk-billed with the exception of the anti-aging treatment, which is not covered by Medicare.

10 Facade of the clinicWithout a doubt, this pair will redefine the meaning of health service in this side of Melbourne and a lot of people are already looking forward to the varied medical, dental, and anti-aging services that are now within their reach and also, to the warmth that only a few practitioners like Willy, Dr Lorie and their team promise to provide. It is about time.
