This is a photo competition initiated by the Philippine Times (PT) in cooperation with the Filipino Camera Club of Melbourne (FCCM) and sponsored by Philippine Tours.
WHO CAN ENTER
The Philippine Times Photo Competition: “Shapes and Shades of Philippine Fiesta” is open to all current FCCM Facebook group members. Only members who register and obtain an entry number will be eligible to enter.
HOW TO ENTER
To enter the “Philippine Fiesta in Melbourne” competitionPhilippine Times Photo Competition: “Shapes and Shades of Philippine Fiesta”, entrants must:
- take a photograph on Saturday 24 November or Sunday 25 November 2012 (the weekend of the 30th Philippine Fiesta of Victoria event at the Melbourne Showgrounds);
- fully complete a competition entry form available at the FCCM booth, Philippine Fiesta event, Melbourne Showgrounds, to register their participation in the competition and to receive an entry number;
- upload up to 5 photograph(s) to http://www.smugmug.com/photos/guest/PcQkPd/Fiesta. The upload password is ‘Fiesta’ site by 5:00pm (AEST) on Wednesday, 5 December 2012.
with each image containing a caption (or image title) in the format
YOUR ENTRY NUMBER_IMAGE TITLE(e.g. If your entry is titled “Folk Dancer” and your entry number is F101, the caption would be: F101_Folk_Dancer).
Note: If you have more than one entry, please ensure your captions must not be the same.
Entries must be received by 5.00pm (AEST) on Wednesday, 5 December 2012.
Technical requirements
$1,000 worth of PhilippineTours.com.au Travel Voucher will be awarded to the best photo entry. Only one photo will win a prize.
The winning photo and other entries selected will be published in the January 2013 edition of The Philippine Times.
Photo entries must be taken from the Philippine Fiesta event at Melbourne Showgrounds on 24-25 November 2012. Images may include the exterior, interior, people/crowds, activities or objects found at said event.
Submissions are limited to five photographs per entrant.
The images must be at least 300kb in size.
Photographs must be in JPEG (.jpeg) format only.
RULES
- By entering this competition, each entrant (and the entrant’s parent/guardian for entrants under 18) accepts and agrees to be bound by these rules and the decisions of PT and FCCM panel of judges.
- Information about how to enter forms part of these rules.
- The “Philippine Times Photo Competition: “Shapes and Shades of Philippine Fiesta” is a game of talent and skill. Each entry will be will be individually judged by the panel of judges on three criteria – Creativity, Quality of photograph and Significance to the theme “Shapes and Shades of Philippine Fiesta”. The judges’ decision is final and no further correspondence will be entered into.
- Entries are limited to five photographs per entrant.
- Entries are open to all FCCM Facebook group members (Amateurs and Professionals).
- PT accepts no responsibility for any late, lost, incomplete, misdirected, incorrectly submitted, delayed or illegible entries, claims or correspondence whether due to error, omission, alteration, tampering, theft, destruction, transmission interruption, communications failure or otherwise. PT has no control over the Internet, telecommunications networks or lines, or the Smugmug website, and accepts no responsibility for any problems associa ted with them, whether due to traffic congestion, technical malfunction or otherwise. It is each entrant’s responsibility to ensure that their entry has been successfully uploaded to the Smugmug website (and remains there until this competition has been judged) and to comply with any rules applicable to that website. The best valid entry as determined by the judges, will win a prize.
- The prize for the winning entry is a $1,000 PhilippineTours.com.au Travel Voucher. Redemption of this voucher is subject to a separate terms and conditions imposed by the prize sponsor, Philippine Tours. - Each entrant warrants in respect of each image submitted that:
- it was taken during the Philippine Fiesta event between Saturday 24 November and Sunday 25 November 2012 and depicts images associated with the Philippine Fiesta event. (If an entrant uses a digital camera, the entrant must ensure that the time and date are correctly set on the entrant’s camera. If the date in the EXIF data is outside Saturday 24 November or Sunday 25 November 2012, the photo will be deemed invalid);
- he/she is the sole and exclusive owner of the copyright and moral rights in the image and has not granted any rights to any third party in respect of the image;
- the image has not been altered to remove or edit parts of the environment;
- it does not infringe any copyright, moral rights, trade mark rights or any other rights of any third party, contain any scandalous, libellous, obscene, inappropriate or unlawful matter, or make any improper or inappropriate invasion of the privacy of any person; and
- it has not been previously published.
- By entering the competition, each entrant:
- consents to PT, FCCM, and Philippine Tours making and publishing (or allowing a third party to make or publish) copies of the whole or any part of their entry (including each photograph) and otherwise exploiting the entry and any rights in relation to the entry, to publicise this competition, to publicise future similar competitions or to otherwise publicise or raise funds for PT, FCCM and Philippine Tours;
and - authorises PT, FCCM and Philippine Tours to display the entrant’s name and likeness on PT, FCCM and Philippine Tours website and in any PT, FCCM and Philippine Tours publication without charge.\
- consents to PT, FCCM, and Philippine Tours making and publishing (or allowing a third party to make or publish) copies of the whole or any part of their entry (including each photograph) and otherwise exploiting the entry and any rights in relation to the entry, to publicise this competition, to publicise future similar competitions or to otherwise publicise or raise funds for PT, FCCM and Philippine Tours;
- Each entrant’s photograph(s) will not be used in any other way by PT, FCCM and Philippine Tours without the permission of the entrant and the entrant retains copyright over the photograph(s) submitted.
- Images submitted will not be returned.
- Winner will be notified by email on or after 6 December 2012 and on the PT website and the winning image will be posted on PT’s website. Winning entry and selected entries will also be published in the January 2013 edition of The Philippine Times.
- The prize must be redeemed by the winner within the expiration period (if any) specified in the travel voucher. Failure to do so will render the voucher invalid and PT, FCCM and Philippine Tours will not in anyway be obligated to produce a replacement prize or any substitute prize or its equivalent amount.
- PT, FCCM and Philippine Tours and its officers, agents, employees and contractors will not be liable for any loss (including, without limitation, indirect, special or consequential loss or loss of profits), expense, damage, personal injury or death which is suffered or sustained (whether or not arising from any person’s negligence) in connection with this competition or accepting or using any prize, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law (in which case that liability is limited to the minimum allowable by law).
- Without limiting the previous paragraph, PT, FCCM and Philippine Tours and its officers, agents, employees and contractors will not be liable for any damage in transit to prizes.
- PT, FCCM and Philippine Tours may require winner to provide proof of identity and proof of age. Identification considered suitable for verification is at PT, FCCM or Philippine Tours’ discretion.
- PT may, in its sole discretion, disqualify all entries from, and prohibit further participation in this competition by, any person who tampers with or benefits from any tampering with the entry process or with the operation of the competition or acts in violation of these rules, acts in a disruptive manner or acts with the intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person.
- If for any reason any aspect of this competition is not capable of running as planned, including, but not limited to, by reason of tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any cause beyond the control of PT which corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this competition, PT may in its sole discretion cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition, or invalidate any affected entries.
- Entries that do not fully comply with these conditions of entry may be deemed invalid at PT’s discretion.
- This competition is run by The Philippine Times, Melbourne in cooperation with the Filipino Camera Club of Melbourne. PT has no relationship with Smugmug or the Smugmug website and the use of Smugmug for this competition does not represent an endorsement of the Smugmug service.
